The 12-hour flight test
Leather absorbs cabin sweat and stiffens in dry air. Nylon soaks the hand-wash water and dries patchy. Silicone wipes clean with a paper towel and feels the same at minute 5 and minute 700. We ran this experiment on a Paris-Singapore segment three times. One winner.
Why silicone wins at 35,000 feet
Cabin pressure drops, the air dries to under 20% humidity, and your wrist swells slightly from the immobility. Medical-grade silicone (the kind we use) is rated stable from -20°C to +200°C and absorbs zero ambient moisture. It does not stretch, harden, or crack at altitude. Leather does all three over time.
TSA, metal detectors, and quick-release
A strap with no metal hardware except the buckle clears the scanner in one pass. POPSTRAP’s cage construction has fewer metal components than a typical bracelet — the only metal is the tang. You save 60-90 seconds per checkpoint. Over a week of business travel, that adds up.

The sweat problem in transit hubs
Airports are weirdly warm — layers, walking, stress. Silicone is non-absorbent and antibacterial by surface chemistry. Perforated leather smells after one Asia trip. Silicone does not.
